Detailed Itinerary
Day1. Fly from Entebbe to Kihihi airstrip, drive to Bwindi NP
Board a charter flight to Entebbe with the help of the tour company representative and fly to Kihihi airstrip located in southwestern Uganda. After about 3 hours of flight, on arrival meet the guide who will take you to Bwindi National Park, home to the mountain gorillas. Once here head to the lodge and this will be the end of the day.
Day2. Gorilla trekking and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Wake up excited to meet the gentle giants through a gorilla trekking adventure. The day begins with breakfast then a short drive to the park offices for briefing. You are either briefed from outside or in a room for a short time to enable you to get used to the forest and its inhabitants.
Learn about the guidelines to follow while trekking, know about the requirements, be told about the expectations, learn about the behaviours and many more others. Start the search with the help of the park ranger guide and porters in the forest. Meeting the family is an exciting moment and you’ll notice that these gentle giants are led by a giant Silverback, an alpha male gorilla. Spend an hour in their presence capturing great memories with your camera.
However, the overall experience can take more than 5 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family. Head back to the lodge for lunch followed by a transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, the second deepest lake in Africa. It gets its name from the local word “Bunyonyi” meaning small birds. Arrive and check in at the resort with a great view of the Lake.
Day3. Lake Bunyonyi adventure
Explore Lake Bunyonyi while on a boat cruise as you visit different islands and learn about their history like Bucuranika Island, Punishment Island, Leprosy Island and others. Take the option of zip lining and in the afternoon, hike one of the hills to enjoy the panoramic view of the lake and the islands.
Day4. Fly back to Entebbe
Head to Kisoro airstrip and fly back to Entebbe by domestic charter flights and then be dropped at the airport for your scheduled flight back home marking the end of the safari.
