Detailed Itinerary
Day 1. Head to Kajjansi airfield and fly to Kisoro, transfer to Bwindi NP
Leave the hotel or Entebbe International Airport and head to Kajjansi Airstrip for a domestic flight to Kisoro Airstrip. The flight is wonderful as you get an aerial view of the surroundings and this will be the beginning of your safari. Arrive at Kisoro airstrip and head to Bwindi with a drive taking about 2 hours. Arrive and head to the lodge.
Day 2. Gorilla trekking and Batwa cultural trail
Wake up and have breakfast, followed by a short drive to the park offices for briefing and assignment of the park ranger/guide. During the briefing, you will be told about the dos and don’ts, dress code, time taken for trekking, and requirements needed as the wardens crosscheck the gorilla trekking permits.
Begin the trek with the park ranger well-armed for protection. While in the forest expect to meet Blue Monkeys, Red-tailed Monkeys, Black and White Colobus Monkeys, de Brazza Monkeys, L’Hoest Monkeys and many more others. Meeting gorillas will be a great opportunity to spend an hour in their presence learning about their behaviours and movements.
Some family members will be feeding, playing, and searching for food as the Silverback demonstrates its leadership skills. The overall experience will take about 8 hours including an hour spent with the gorillas.
After the experience, head back to the lodge with your certificate for lunch. Take an afternoon community tour of the Batwa. While here, learn about this unique culture through music, dance and drama, dress code, storytelling, and many others. Support the locals by buying some souvenirs.
Day 3. Transfer to the airstrip and fly back home
Have breakfast and transfer to the airstrip. Fly back to Kajjansi and be dropped off at Entebbe International Airport to mark the end of the safari.
