3 days Mgahinga gorilla fly-in safari
3 days Mgahinga gorilla fly-in safari
Overview
This 3-day Mgahinga gorilla fly-in is a short safari that leads you to encounter the gentle giants through a gorilla trekking adventure. This park is located in the far southwestern part of Uganda, the smallest of all national parks but has unique primates and other wonders.
Apart from the gorillas, there are other attractions you will meet such as elephants, buffalos, leopards, bushbucks and more. Have different options like visiting Lake Mutanda and the Batwa trail. The tour will begin and end in Kajjansi or Entebbe.
Detailed Itinerary
Day1. Fly from Entebbe/Kajjansi to Kisoro airstrip
Depending on the agreed pick-up point, the tour representative will take you to either Kajjansi or Entebbe to board a charter flight that will take you to Kisoro airstrip, a flight that will last for about 4 hours. Arrive and the driver guide will take you to the lodge booked in Mgahinga National Park.
Day2. Gorilla trekking
After an early breakfast, head to the park office to receive a briefing. Be told about the rules and regulations, trekking requirements, and cross checking of gorilla permits. Begin the search where you get to learn about the behaviours of these beautiful creatures. While in the forest expect to meet vervet monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, olive baboons, colobus monkeys and many species of birds.
Meeting a family of gorillas is rewarding since you learn while recording memories using a camera. Witness the Silverback showing off its leadership skills, juveniles playing, and females breastfeeding the young ones. This experience takes about 4 to 7 hours depending on the location of the mountain gorillas but an hour will be granted to you for a face-to-face interaction.
After having a great time with these beautiful creatures, head back to the park office to receive your gorilla trekking certificate and then meet up with your driver guide who will take you back to the lodge. After lunch, engage in an optional activity of either visiting Lake Mutanda or Batwa cultural trail.
Day3. Fly back to Kajjansi/Entebbe
On your last day, have breakfast and then fly back to Kajjansi/Entebbe from Kisoro after a drive to Kisoro airport. Meet the company representative who will drop you off at the airport and this marks the end of the safari.
