Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival, Kigali city tour and transfer to Akagera National Park

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will meet our professional tour guide. He or she will brief you about your amazing 5 Days Gorillas and Wildlife Rwanda safari. You will embark on an amazing Kigali city tour. You will explore the local markets and genocide memorial sites. Lunch will be at a hotel within the city. You will then drive to Akagera National Park. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise

After breakfast, you will embark on an amazing game drive in the Akagera National Park. The park is home to the big five animals namely; lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros. You will encounter many other wild animals like zebras, antelopes, gazelles, kopjes, giraffes, and many more. Return to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will go on a boat cruise on Lake Ihema. You will encounter schools of hippos, rhinos and many fish species. Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, you will transfer to Volcanoes National Park. Lunch will be along the way. Volcanoes National Park is famous for mountain gorilla trekking and golden monkey tours. The park is the resting ground for the great primatologist Dian Fossey. Upon arrival, check in to your booked lodge for dinner and spend the night.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking and Ibyi’wacu cultural village tour

After breakfast, you will go to the park headquarters for briefing. You will enter the forests in search of the magical apes. Upon meeting the gorillas, you will spend one hour in their presence. You may as well visit the Dian Fossey grave in the Karisoke Research Center. Return to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will visit the Ibyi’wacu Cultural Villages also known as the Gorilla Guardian Village. Interact with the local members of the communities and participate in their daily chores. In the evening, return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Kigali – Departure

After a relaxed breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and drive to Kigali city. Lunch will be along the way.
